Arrive in Accra, Ghana where you will be met at the airport by your guide and chauffeur and transferred to your hotel for check in. Overnight at a hotel in Accra. Meals Included: Dinner.
This day is dedicated to exploring nature in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Aburi Botanical Gardens was created in 1890 for pleasure and scientific research; it is a habitat for plants and butterflies from all around the world. The gardens are found in the town of Aburi which boasts of interesting history, a beautiful town and friendly people. Aburi’s attractive features have been made easier to view with recent additions of rental bicycles for tours on the mountain. Continue to Tetteh Quarshie farm near Mampong which is officially recognized as the first cocoa farm in Ghana from 1879.
You will also visit the Boti falls, a twin waterfall located at Boti in Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana. These twin falls are referred to as female and male. End your tour at the Umbrella Rock. As the name suggests this is an umbrella like a rock found at the site of the Boti Falls in Yilo Krobo District. Even though the pivot on which the top rock lies on might seem small, it’s very strong and no one has been able to pull and/or push it down with manpower.

Leave Accra this day for a scenic drive through the coastal savanna of the Accra plains. You will cross the most attractive bridge in Ghana known as the Adomi Bridge. The bridge was strategically built by Ghana’s first president to serve as a link to Ghana in order to attract votes from the then Trans Volta Togoland (now the Volta Region) to be part of Ghana. Embark on a picturesque drive to Mountain Afadja. Climb to the highest point of Ghana without climbing gear. After the display of bravery on the mountain, depart for a drive to Wli.
Make a scenic drive to the Volta region. You will visit the Wli Waterfalls. Enjoy a hike through lush greenery of the Agumatsa Forest Reserve where you will cross the same river nine times to reach the breathtaking falls.

Make a scenic drive to The Shai Hills Game Reserve which combines nature conservation, rich cultural interest and archaeological sites with splendid scenic beauty. Trek through the savannah plains where you might get to see some of West Africa’s notable game: antelope, bushbucks, kobs, baboons, monkeys and many bird species, including the crested eagle.
Visit the Obonu Tem and Se Yo caves which serve as home to many animals, including a colony of bats. The brave will also have the opportunity to go into the caves, follow the sun and emerge at the peak of the hill! These caves were once home to the Shai people’s ancestors and used by their king until the late 19th century. The area was defensible in times of war thanks to the large stone rocks, overhangs and tunnel-like cave openings. Learn about the various artifacts that have been found on this site.

Spend this day at the Legon Botanical Gardens where you will have the opportunity to test yourself by undertaking high rope and junior rope course challenges, bird watching, canoeing, fishing, cycling and a canopy walkway on your own.

After lunch on your own, embark on a tour of the infamous Forts, Castles, and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. Here, you would learn about the relationship between the western slave traders and the African tribes that made the trans-Atlantic slave trade possible. It is an opportunity to be up and close with history – to stand in the dark and stuffy dungeons, imagining the experience and conditions that millions of Africans endured. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum.

Make a scenic drive to Nzulezu, a unique village built on water. Nzulezu is built entirely on stilts over an open lake fed by two rivers. According to oral history and tradition, villagers migrated several centuries ago from Walata, a city in the ancient Ghana Empire, which fell in the year 1250. Ancestors of the village believe that villagers were led to this secure place by a snail. Nzulezu is an Nzema word meaning “built on water.”
After an hour’s drive through a rubber plantation, enjoy a five-kilometer ride on the lake in a local dugout canoe (life jackets are provided). The ride takes you through areas of marsh and open pools fringed with palm thickets and opens out into the vast expanse of the lake. A variety of birds are often seen emerging from the reeds or sitting on the low hanging branches of the surrounding jungle. Upon arrival in the village, interact with the locals and explore the adjacent area. Notice the solid wood construction of the houses and the raffia walkways.
